“American Manhunt: Osama Bin Laden does not tell the story of the United States and the War on Terror. It tells the story of the people tasked to find the world’s most wanted terrorist and bring him to justice. It took them 12 years, a hunt that changed their lives, America, and the world as we know it.”

— Directors Mor Loushy and Daniel Sivan

For this Netflix documentary series, Parliament worked closely with directors Mor & Daniel to deliver a comprehensive visual identity that unified the narrative through compelling design.

Balancing tension, realism, and clarity to support a complex and globally significant story, Parliament’s work included the creation of the main title sequence, along with the visual look and feel of intelligence binders, microfilms, and classified documents - all rendered with meticulous detail to evoke authenticity and historical accuracy.

Most notably, the Parliament team led the recreation of raid sequences, blending cinematic visual effects with archival aesthetics to transport viewers into pivotal moments of the manhunt.

Creative Director Udesh Chetty notes:

To bring the high-stakes raid on Osama bin Laden’s Abbottabad compound to life, we crafted cinematic recreations grounded in realism and restraint. Parliament designed and built detailed CGI models of the compound and multiple Black Hawk helicopters, blending them seamlessly with live-action footage shot at a desert base just outside Los Angeles. The material was carefully treated to match surveillance aesthetics; aerial shots mimicked the grain and movement of drone-based night vision, while ground-level action was processed to resemble tactical helmet-cam footage. The result is a gritty, immersive visual layer that enhances the documentary’s tension while maintaining a sense of authenticity.”

If Zero Dark Thirty has long held the crown for the most riveting depiction of this raid, American Manhunt: Osama Bin Laden might nick it with a near feature-length final episode that is absolutely stellar documentary filmmaking.

The documentary makes you sit on the edge of your seat throughout the entire time. It swiftly moves on like a channel of insiders passing on critical information, and ends up being a massive entertainer - informative and thrilling.

American Manhunt: Osama bin Laden’ is a tense and riveting account of recent American history

— SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE
American Manhunt: Osama Bin Laden is informative, to be sure, and it gives insight into operations most people in the US knew nothing about. But it’s certainly not trying to play things down the middle, letting the people they interviewed point fingers without giving the people they point fingers to the chance to respond.
